This International Women’s Day – know the roles of a woman in modern society

“You are not strong enough to join protection forces.”

Relatable right? You may have used those kinds of phrased for someone or been growing up listening to the social mandate. On this women’s day, we may need to face some more unbelievable truth of society.

It is 2022, a modern world where we pretend to accept women as human. But have we? Society created a set of rules for women and men, leading one part of the gender in the higher position and dragging another into a shade. Those rules were cleverly implanted into the human brain for women, leaving no space out. They were caged into some roles that must be played, and they don’t exist without them.

We can begin with the birth of a human child.

Daughter:

Oh! It’s a girl! The happiest day of a family may turn into the saddest day with just a word, GIRL.

Yes! There are many parts of the society where still people think of girl children as a burden, not as blessings. Life revolves around rules and regulations for that little girl until she becomes a puppet for the family.

With the modernisation of the culture, now, as a parent or family, having a child is a blessing, no matter what it is. Yes, growing up as a girl child is not always so easy. But we believe, with time, everything will be perfect. A girl child is not the burden, but it is happiness. So, make your daughter feel special on this women’s day and set an example for society.

Sister:

Believe it or not. This role is one of the best roles a woman can have. A sister is half part of the life of another sibling, creating an invisible and unbreakable bond.

Discrimination starts when a family has a boy. Not all family is happy to have a baby girl. Sometimes, the family provides more freedom and privilege to their boy than a girl without knowing. But now, it is high time to recognise the faults in our mindset and reset them.

Wife:

Daughter and sister are the lightest characters of a woman’s life. The burden is starting to rise from now. Forget about your education, your dreams, and your goals. A woman’s ultimate goals should be getting married someday, being someone’s wife, and living life on someone else’s terms. Honestly, an unmarried woman is not suitable for society.

But both men & women should understand that a woman is not only someone’s wife. They have free will to choose a career and life goals. Women these days are more focused on education, career, vacation, money, and everything else. That doesn’t mean they don’t want to get married. But perspective has changed for modern women. They are free to choose their marital status.

Mother:

Being a mother is the most challenging full-time job on earth: no holidays, extra pay, or benefits. Still, women have challenged themselves every day to play the best role of mother. If you are dedicated to your children and family, you are a good mother. If not, then what?

A mother is everything, starting from the educator, caregiver, nanny, chef, friend, protector, guide, and what else. Taking a day off or going shopping just for herself doesn’t seem fit for the role of a good mother, right?

Women’s day is when we must realise how tough it is for them to play the role. Today’s mom is far more than that. They have a job, work towards their life goals, achieve something unexpectedly bigger, and continue their journey as a woman. We salute all mothers for raising the world.

Grandmother:

What do you remember when you think of your grandmother? Is she not the most adorable person in the world who makes every wish true? A person, who reads for you, helps you, plays with you, gets lonely in her last moment of life. Her whole world revolves around you. But is it what she truly wants for her entire post-retirement journey?

Today, grandmoms are not limiting their reach to grandchildren, hospitals, and loneliness. They are active, energetic, enjoyable, and so much more. The grandmothers who have faced all life hurdles and reached the end of their journey are now free. The modern grandmom will not sit for your bedtime stories, but she will enjoy the island’s vacation for sure.

So, a family vacation would be the best way to celebrate women’s day for your grandmother.

Being a Woman:

If you are not a good daughter, mother, sister, you are not a good person. Why women always are being judged by others’ perceptions? Now, women are moving towards success at their own pace, despite discouragement, gender inequality, tough competition, and what else. We must understand those roles will never define the women’s strength or ability to achieve goals. Being a woman is enough. So, embrace your dignity and lead a life on your terms.
